Originally named "the Huangling Temple (the
Yellow Ox Temple)" in order to memorize the yellow ox that
has ever-helped King Dayu excavate the gorges, it was built
during Chunqiu Period in about thousands years ago. In the Three
Kingdoms period, when Zhuge Liang reached here with his army,
he found the temple was old and broken. He raised the fund and
rebuilt the temple and even wrote a poem for it. In the Song
Dynasty, the great literator Ouyang Xiu came here and renamed
the temple "the Huangling Temple" because he thought
all the achievements of excavating the gorges was only done
by the King Dayu, but not the yellow ox. In the past several
thousand years, many celebrities visited the temple and left
their beautiful poems for it.
In the Huangling Temple, you can also taste the sweet water
flew out from a stone spring well. Out of the temple, thousands
of orange trees make the mountain green and beautiful.
